Many of us humor the idea of one day volunteering our time to help those in need. For 9-year-old Hailey Fort, there's no joy in thinking about helping. For her, the joy comes with taking action. With some help from her mother, Hailey has taken the idea of helping others to a whole new level.

Hailey first noticed the problem of homelessness in her area when she was 5 years old. At that time, she met Edward. Edward was a man suffering from homelessness, and Hailey began asking her mother questions. "What happens when it rains?" Where does that man sleep?"

With her mother's help, Hailey decided the least she could do is make a basic shelter for Edward. Using carpentry skills I could only dream of, she has since created several rather complex shelters for homeless community members near her. Hailey's ambitions don't end with providing shelter, however.

For 2015, the young philanthropist's goal is to grow 250 pounds of food, build 12 shelters, and provide basic necessities like painkillers, clothes, and backpacks to people in her town. When I heard her story, I couldn't help but be completely inspired! This is a young woman that deserves everyone's respect!
