Coby Persin has made a career out of pulling the wool over people's eyes. Since 2013, his YouTube channel devoted to practical jokes has recorded bystander's reactions as they are unknowingly thrust into awkward situations. It might sound childish, but his channel, Model Pranksters, has accumulated hundreds of millions of views in the last two years.
In his latest viral sensation, published on July 19 of this year, Coby poses as a homeless man on the streets of New York City with two different signs. The first sign implies that the prankster will spend money on drugs and alcohol, while the second implies he will spend his money helping his family. As a visual aide, a young girl pretending to be his daughter sits next to him while he holds the latter sign.
Common sense would dictate that people would be willing to donate more money to the man looking to feed his family. What actually happens is an entirely different story.
