This is one of those videos that I'll never forget watching. It is truly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and if you're anything like the rest of us, you will absolutely love it. The footage below captures the extraordinary events during the day of a water birth between a very loving husband and wife. From morning until night, the husband is selflessly offering his assistance, comfort, and encouragement whenever possible. His wife, although clad in maternity wear and a bathing suit top, looks positively radiant every second the camera lingers on her. The water birth takes place in the comfort of the family's very living room. It's obvious from the footage that the wife is in the company of loved ones. What an incredible way to bring life into this world.
According to WebMD, some studies suggest that water birthing may have such benefits as expediting labor, easing pain, and preventing the need for anesthesia. The site goes on to explain that, "The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), which sets guidelines for pregnancy and childbirth care in the U.S., says a water birth during the first stage of labor may have some benefits but delivering your baby underwater should be considered an experimental procedure with risks." Some of the risks that could happen during water birthing include baby infection, baby breathing in water, dangerous body temperatures for baby, premature snapping of umbilical cord, and potential seizures if baby isn't able to breathe. Despite the potential risks of water birth, it has become an increasing trend for delivering mothers.
