They told Chris Norton that he'd never walk again after being injured in a 2010 football game. In fact, he was given only a 3% chance of ever regaining mobility below his neck. Yet after four years and a tremendous amount of therapy, this incredible young man was ready to prove them all wrong.
Watch as Chris walks across the stage at his college graduation with the help of his brand new fiancée, Emily, and prepare to get goosebumps. While he's only able to take slow and steady baby steps toward his diploma, he may as well have been running a marathon, he overcame so much to enjoy that moment. Suffice it to say, his personal triumph is extremely emotional to watch and we were near tears watching him accomplish the "impossible."
Because Chris' injuries occurred during an NCAA event, many of the astronomical costs associated with his recovery were covered under its fantastic insurance. Without it, he'd never have been able to afford the tens of thousands of dollars worth of treatments to rehabilitate his body. Therefore, Chris has started the Spinal Cord Injury (SCICAN) Project to help provide financial assistance to other individuals struggling to pay for neuromuscular therapies.
Here at SF Globe, we're awed and humbled by Chris Norton's perseverance and positivity. What did you think about his big graduation moment? Sound off in the comments below and make sure to share if you found this clip as inspirational as we did.
