Cycling is a sport of endurance. It takes a tremendous amount of determination and focus to ride for long distances. It's not uncommon to see a group of cyclists riding on the side of the road, heads bowed, legs pumping as they pedal away. It can also be a leisurely experience for those who like to just go for a ride. However, cycling is not without its risks. One of the biggest dangers that cyclists face is the other vehicle on the road, the dreaded car. Cyclists are often hit by cars when sharing the road with automobiles.
These are the sorts of victims that Dr. Tim Delgado has dealt with before. An avid cyclist himself and first response doctor, Delgado is trained to respond to trauma victims when they are picked up in his helicopter. However, when he was called in to help treat a woman who had been hit by a car while riding her bike, he never expected to know her personally. To his horror, the woman was actually his own wife. What came next though was a story of determination and love.
