This is one of those tear-jerking ads that you just can't seem to forget. Amy Purdy teamed up with Toyota to feature her compelling story alongside the launching of Toyota's new 2015 Camry. The ad aired during this year's Super Bowl and did an incredible job of hitting home an inspirational message.
According to
Amy Purdy's site, she suffered a traumatic medical event when she was 19 years old, and doctors told her father that she had less than a two percent chance of survival. Purdy's site goes on to explain that she was diagnosed with a bacterial infection called Meningococcal Meningitis and had to have both of her legs amputated below the knee. As this video documents, Purdy's father donated one of his kidneys so his daughter could live. Now, Purdy is an actress, model, author, public speaker and professional snowboarder; she took home the bronze medal for snowboarding in the
2014 Paralympics.
The incredible bond between father and daughter in this video is simply beautiful. Even though I'm an adult now, I know my dad still desires nothing more than to love, protect, and care for me as if I were still a little girl. It's so amazing to see the impact that fatherly love can have. Here at SFG, we thought this video was so much more than just an ad; we hope you walk away from this as moved as we did.
