Warning: you might want to grab the tissues for this one.

There's nothing that warms our hearts more than an animal rescue story with a happy ending. Watch as the folks from Lionel's Legacy retrieve Mufasa, a senior dog who'd been reportedly living in a water treatment facility. These guardian angels lure the tentative pup closer using bits of cheeseburgers, eventually gaining his trust. However, what shattered us more than anything was the expression on Mufasa's face as he rides in the front seat of the rescuer's car: he visibly melts with happiness after being saved.

According to Lionel's Legacy's website, it appears Mufasa is healthy and about to be adopted! We tip our caps to such an extraordinary organization that takes these sweet animals off the streets and places them in the loving homes they so desperately deserve.

Do you have rescue pets at home? What has been your experience with them? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below and make sure to share if you found this footage as heartwarming as we did.
