Lauren Kavanaugh is over 20 years old now, but when she was found in 2001, she was just eight years old, and weighed only 25.6 pounds. She was adopted at a young age, but when her birth mother changed her mind, she entered what would be the darkest time in her life.

Lauren's life has only improved since her rescue, and her birth parents both received life sentences for the crimes they committed against their child. Stories like this are tough to get through, but it's a little easier knowing that those who are guilty are facing a penalty for their actions.
