There are lots of different organizations to donate your hair to and Wigs for Kids is a pretty popular one. They have a really good outlook towards what they are doing: "When children lose their hair, they don't just suffer physically. The change in their appearance can drastically undermine their self-image and sabotage their self-esteem." They understand that something as simple as a wig can make a huge difference to a little boy or girl who is facing a great challenge at such a young age. It only takes one look at the little girl at the end of this video to understand that.

BuzzFeed decided they wanted to see what really happens when you donate your hair - so they followed the process from one woman getting her hair cut before donating it, to a little girl getting a finished wig. It is amazing to see all the steps that are involved and how much care goes into each wig. I was surprised that there was some hair that didn't actually make the cut. It's disappointing to see some of it going to waste, but it makes a lot of sense. It would be very distressing for a little girl if she waited so long for this wig and ended up with one that looked really messy with broken and split hairs.

It is good to know that all of that time and effort is going towards benefitting a very deserving little kid. Check out the video and watch the magic happen.
