Over a 6 year period, Rebecca Brown took a photo of herself everyday to depict her battle with Trichotillomania. The disorder, which affects somewhere from 2-4% of the population, is characterized by an impulsive urge to pull out one's hair. Hair pulling varies in severity and location on the body, according to the Trichotillomania Learning Center. The condition is currently labeled as an OCD-related disorder, though experts still aren't exactly sure how to classify it. For some of the afflicted, the urge is so great that it affects their everyday life and feelings. This is very apparent when you watch Rebecca's transformation.

The video starts when Rebecca is just 14-years-old, with a healthy head of hair and a smile on her face. As the video progresses, you'll begin to see Rebecca's smile fade and her hair change. She mentions impactful moments in her life that have lead to the worsening of her condition, like breaking up with her boyfriend and stressing out over exams. In 2011, at the age of 18, when Rebecca looks least like the fresh-faced blonde you see in the beginning, she is diagnosed with depression and claims to be suicidal. Her transformation is harrowing as you begin to understand what this poor girl has gone through and how much it affects her day-to-day life.

There is no cure for the disorder, but advancements have been made in treatment options over the years. However, everyone is unique and thus everyone will react to different treatment methods differently. There are support groups available for sufferers as well as organizations dedicated to raising awareness.

Rebecca's journey ends on a positive note. In 2013, she is one year bald free and has been accepted to film school. The now 21-year-old is looking like herself again and has a positive outlook on life. Watch the video below to see Rebecca undergo change with each twist and turn that life takes.
