Katarina Rosenblatt came from troubled beginnings. Her mother was in an abusive relationship during Kat's formative years, and at 13, the two of them escaped to live in a Miami Beach hotel.

She wandered around a lot while her mother was at work, and eventually, a trafficking ring "spotted [her] vulnerability," and it went downhill from there. Katarina became a victim of human trafficking.

It wasn't some creepy old man that recruited her though — it was an older girl. Someone that Katarina might have viewed as "cool." At the very least, she wasn't suspicious. It was Mary, a seemingly aspirational 19-year-old girl, who introduced Kat to the man who would eventually become her pimp. They took her in and made her feel like family, before leading her into a situation that might be too vile to put in a major motion picture — listening to her story, I can't help but wish it was fiction. In short, her virginity was sold for $550, and that's just the start. Watch the video below if you can bear to hear more.

So, after all of this, what's Kat up to now? To put it lightly, she's crushing it. She's helping law enforcement with her unique perspective on this despicable industry. Most profoundly though, she founded an organization to help other victims, and it's admirable.

Do you know anyone as strong as Katarina? Tell us in the comments below, and share this with your friends on Facebook to loop them in, too!
