It's so refreshing to see social media being used for good these days. It's easy to get discouraged from all the negative ways in which people take advantage of cyber space, but this story isn't like that in the slightest. When a woman named Claire Fahy opened her Facebook messages one day to find a note from a complete stranger, she wasn't sure what to think.

Fahy realized that the message wasn't spam, as it included a very important picture of a letter that Fahy had written herself when she was just eight years old. What would your reaction be if you received a strange message from someone like this? I know that my mind would be going crazy before I could calm down enough to figure out what was really going on.

Little did Fahy know that she was about to receive one of the biggest surprises of her life. Read the article below to find out what happened when Claire Fahy received a Facebook message from a stranger with a picture of her handwriting. Don't forget to tell us what you think about this incredible story in the comments section. We love to hear from you!

When Claire Fahy was eight years old she participated in Operation Christmas Child and sent a young Armenian boy a shoebox full of gifts. She also sent a letter along with the shoebox, explaining who she was and her hopes that the gift would be well-received. Nearly 16 years later, Fahy opened her Facebook messages to find a note that completely shocked her.

When I was 8 years old I wrote this note and put it inside a shoebox filled with crayons, gloves, a toothbrush and loads...

A man named Arsen Khachatryan contacted Fahy claiming that he was the little boy she'd sent the shoebox too. He even included a picture of Fahy's letter so that she would know he was telling the truth. Khachatryan wanted to thank Fahy for her kind words and generosity all those years ago.

Sixteen years after sending a shoebox of small gifts to a child in Armenia, a Galway woman has received a message of thanks from the recipient.
