Adoption stories can be both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once, and the story you will see in the video below is no exception. Amber was a single mother to two children when she became pregnant with her third, a baby girl. She began to worry that she wouldn't be able to provide this new baby girl with the best standard of living, and so Amber began to consider adoption. As she browsed through possible adoptive families, she found herself unable to select one that seemed right for the new baby; that is, until she saw Erin and Mike's adoptive profile. Struck by the incredible bond that Erin and Mike had preserved with the birth mother of their first adopted child, Amber knew immediately that Erin and Mike were the couple that was perfect to adopt her baby girl.
What is so undeniably moving about Amber's story is that she made one of the hardest decisions a mother could possibly make simply because she wanted the best for her child. The bond between a mother and her child is so incredibly strong that it's hard for a mother, especially the mother of a newborn, to imagine her child in anyone else's care than her own. Letting go of a child is undoubtedly one of the hardest things a woman can go through, so for Amber to selflessly put her daughter up for adoption is incredible. Here is a woman who, against her insanely strong motherly instinct, realized that she couldn't provide the best life possible for her child, and so was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for her daughter.
Adoption can be a terrifying notion, but Amber, Erin and Mike's story just goes to show how wonderful it can be. Many children who find out that they were adopted feel a sense of abandonment; they feel as though there was something wrong with them that made their parents leave them behind. Amber is a wonderful example of the exact opposite of this scenario: she's a mother who loves her child so, so much, she's willing to endure agonizing heartbreak to give that child the best opportunities in life. Amber's decision just goes to show how strong a mother's love can be.
